Prayer for God's Light and Peace
Topic: Peace
Prayer for God's Light and Peace

O eternal Lord God, who holdest all souls in life: Give, we beseech thee, to thy whole Church in paradise and on earth thy light and thy peace; and grant that we, following the good examples of those who have served you here and are now at rest, may at the last enter with them into thine unending joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

The 5 Finger Prayer
Topic: Friendship
The Five Finger Prayer
 1. Your thumb is nearest you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C. S. Lewis once said, a "sweet duty."

2. The
next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.

3. The
next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance.

4. The
fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger; as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them.

5. And lastly comes our
little finger; the smallest finger of all which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, "The least shall be the greatest among you." Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.

"God is an infinite circle whose center is everywhere and whose circumference is nowhere."

Prayer to Be Forgiving

Prayer to Be Forgiving

If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.

Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.

HaShem Hath Done Great Things

A Song of Ascents. When HaShem brought back those that returned to Zion, we were like unto them that dream.

Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing; then said they among the nations: 'The HaShem hath done great things with these.'

HaShem hath done great things with us; we are rejoiced.

Turn our captivity, O HaShem, as the streams in the dry land.

They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.

Though he goeth on his way weeping that beareth the measure of seed, he shall come home with joy, bearing his sheaves.

Prayer for Dreamers

Prayer for Dreamers

We pray for the dreamers of this life, O God,
for those persons who imagine new possibilities,
who long for what others cannot perceive,
who spin dreams of wonder and majesty in their minds.
Defend them from ridicule and harsh criticism,
from self-doubt and lack of faith in their dreams,
and from abandonment of this call to make things new.
Grant that from their dreams
may come forth blessings for humankind
to enrich the quality of life
and the wonderment of us all.
Amen.

To Worship in Spirit and Truth
Topic: Sabbath
To Worship in Spirit and Truth

Father, I'm praying that (name one or more) and others in my circle of family and friends will worship You in spirit and in truth...

May they learn to worship You in spirit, for You are spirit, and You have created us in Your image with spirit, soul, and body. May they worship You by the Spirit of God. (John 4:24; Genesis 1:26a, 27a; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; Philippians 3:3a)

May they never have an idol in their lives—anyone or anything more important to them than You. May their worship be pleasing to You, and even in the midst of disappointment or great sorrow, may they turn to You in worship. May they surrender themselves to You completely as living sacrifices— for that in itself is a spiritual act of worship. (Ezekiel 14:3; Romans 12:1; 2 Samuel 12:19–20)

Help them worship You in spirit and in truth—the truth of Who You are as You have revealed Yourself to be in the Scriptures—not the God they want You to be or imagine You are. May they worship You in the truth of how You have revealed Yourself through their personal relationship with You. ( John 4:23; Exodus 3:14; John 4:22; 17:3)

May their worship come from the heart. In Jesus' name, amen.

Prayer for the Start of Day

Prayer for the Start of Day

This is another day, O Lord. I know not what it will bring forth, but make me ready, Lord, for whatever it may be. If I am to stand up, help me to stand bravely. If I am to sit still, help me to sit quietly. If I am to lie low, help me to do it patiently. And if I am to do nothing, let me do it gallantly. Make these words more than words, and give me the Spirit of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer of Thanksgiving

O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.

Let Israel now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.

Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.

Let them now that fear the Lord say, that his mercy endureth for ever.

I called upon the Lord in distress: the Lord answered me, and set me in a large place.

God Is Our Refuge
Topic: Protection
God Is Our Refuge

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Therefore will we not fear, though the earth do change, and though the mountains be moved into the heart of the seas;

Though the waters thereof roar and foam, though the mountains shake at the swelling thereof. Selah

There is a river, the streams whereof make glad the city of God, the holiest dwelling-place of the Most High.

God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, at the approach of morning.

Nations were in tumult, kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted.

HaShem of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our high tower. Selah

Come, behold the works of HaShem, who hath made desolations in the earth.

He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; He breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; He burneth the chariots in the fire.

'Let be, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.'

Prayer for Safety
Topic: Protection
Prayer for Safety

We are afraid to walk the streets.
We are afraid to go outside.
We are afraid of the young men
with guns in their hands,
drugs in their blood,
and death a breath away.
O God,
hear our prayer
for families,
neighbors,
and friends.
Deliver us from this violence,
from danger and death.
Give us the courage to face each day
and to walk the streets
in safety
once again.
Amen.
